Arrma Outcast 8s Review. Most Powerful Arrma RC Car Ever?

If you’re a Kraton fan and want to have a better rival with stronger parts and handling, you should check out the Arrma Outcast 8s!

We can say that the Arrma Outcast 8s is one of the most powerful RC cars not only in Arrma but in the whole RC car world.

It doesn’t come with the 8s version only, you can get the 6s or even the 4s. However, the smaller the battery, the smaller the size.

So, the Arrma Outcast 8s is the biggest Outcast that you can have.

Also, in comparison to the Kraton 8s which is the base of this RC car we’re reviewing today, the Arrma Outcast 8s comes with a lot of updates.

After all, this, is the Arrma Outcast 8s worth buying especially since the price is high? How fast does it go? And are these new updates good enough?

Arrma Outcast 8s Design

Arrma Outcast 8s Body

If you’re familiar with Arrma RC cars, the first thing you’ll notice when you see the Arrma Outcast 8s is how similar it is to Arrma Infraction.

Everything is similar even the details like the skids, the rear wings as well as the bars in the rear.

We can say that this is a bigger version of the Arrma infraction’s body with some small changes and upgrades.

When I say bigger, it’s really big, this is a 1/5 scale RC car, which means that it’s even bigger than the Kraton and the Big Rock!

The Arrma Outcast 8s body version comes only with Red color while the other versions like the Arrma Outcast 6s and 4s and even the EXB that comes with no electronics can have other colors like Blue and Black.

The Front

The front Arrma Outcast 8s body looks similar to that of the Infraction, especially in the headlights. They have the same round headlights.

Also, under the headlights, there is a small bumper with the body (I’m not talking about the black one that is a part of the chassis).

The top of the Arrma Outcast 8s is protected by those skids which are perfect to increase the life span of the body.

The Rear

In the rear, right after the skids, there are the support bars, they can increase also the protection as well as the support since they’re connected to the internal cage.

Concerning the spoiler, it does come with the body, it’s connected to the chassis despite looking like it’s a part of the Arrma Outcast 8s body.

In the end, you have a great well-protected body, it doesn’t come with a lot of colors for the 8s version. Also, it doesn’t come with a lot of stickers, it’s just one color-painted body with a few stickers on the sides.

So, for this Arrma Outcast 8s body, it looks incredible, nothing to complain about!

Arrma Outcast 8s Chassis

What’s new in the Arrma Outcast 8s Chassis?

As I mentioned earlier, the Arrma Outcast 8s chassis has the same base as the Kraton 8s.

When you first take off the body and see the chassis, you’ll notice how similar the chassis of the Kraton and the Outcast 8s are.

But, the special thing about the Arrma Outcast 8s chassis is the additional upgrades that Arrma has added to improve the durability and the handling of this RC beast.

For example, the Kraton chassis comes with a long bar that will draw your attention once you see it, it’s taking from the front to the end of the chassis as support which is powerful.

However, it can bend quickly after some jumps, this is why n the Arrma Outcast 8s chassis, there are two bars, the first one is taking from the front to the middle while the other is taking from the middle to the end.

The other problem that the Kraton has and was fixed in the Arrma Outcast 8s is the chassis’s bottom metal skid that wasn’t strong enough to hold the Kraton.

In the Arrma Outcast 8s, they shortened it and gave it more stiffness and support. That’s incredible.

You can add another layer of yours if you want to make sure it won’t bend again!

The chassis is so high than the ground which makes the Arrma Outcast 8s perfect for off-roading which is easy for it. The big wheels and the wide chassis also have a big role in the handling and stability of this RC car.

The Front of the Chassis

When it comes to the front of the chassis, you’ll see a small long bumper with two braces right behind it to increase the protection of the internal parts and the absorption of the shock.

The huge shock towers are made from plastic, still, they’re pretty reliable and can do the job incredibly fine.

What surprised me about the Arrma Outcast 8s is the suspension system, those shocks are massive and convenient for handling this beast’s weight.

The Rear of the Chassis

In the rear, there is almost the same structure as the suspension system as well as the shock tower.

The additional thing is the big spoiler that we mentioned earlier. It’s as big as the one on the Kraton, but, it is shorter.

Whether it’s long or short, it will help with the downforce of the air to create more balance, especially when going at high speed.

Right under the spoiler, there is the wheelie bar, a small one connected to the end of the spoiler.

The great thing I liked about it is the place where it’s located. Why? Because this is a high RC car, placing the wheelie bar in its usual place won’t work at all.

But placing it in the rear of the wing is a great idea.

Now, you don’t have to worry about the high acceleration of the Arrma Outcast 8s, you can even have fun lifting the front wheels and going that way. It’s really fun.

Regarding the internal parts, they’re all protected by a huge side of the chassis with a big “ARRMA” written on the sides.

Arrma Outcast 8s Performance

Off-Roading Performance

As we wrote earlier in the previous sections, whether you drive the Arrma Outcast 8s on or off-road, you’ll have a lot of fun with it.

These new chassis upgrades have boosted its handling and reliability, so now, you don’t have to worry about breaking this RC beast.

Still, there is one thing that you may break, it’s easy to fix though. It’s the shocks.

Due to the heavy weight that the Arrma Outcast 8s comes with, doing high jumps and landing hard is one of the reasons you can have your shock taken off the suspension arms.

Usually, the rear shocks are the ones that have this problem since the rear of the RC car is the part that gets the highest pressure especially when landing.

Even though the heavy weight of this RC car is, the other parts are handling it very well, there is no problem with the chassis bending, not with the central bar or the central driveshaft, everything is perfectly fine.

The shocks are the only problem here. You can fix them by putting them back, OR, you can go for some new upgrades that may be a good solution.

Other than that, the Arrma Outcast 8s is a beast that you should try because you’ll enjoy it so much.

What is the Arrma Outcast 8s Top Speed?

Concerning driving the Arrma Outcast 8s on-road, it’s also a great idea, however, it’s not as exciting as driving off-road and going through water and mud and testing the true abilities of the chassis and the internal parts.

The Arrma Outcast 8s being an 8s gives you automatically the impression that this is a fast RC car which it is.

With a Spektrum^™ Firma^™ 1250Kv Brushless Motor, Spektrum^™ Firma^™ 160A Smart ESC, and a Spektrum™ S905 Metal-Geared Digital Servo, as well as a 2 4s Lipo batteries, the Arrma Outcast 8s, can go at 50 – 55 mph.

This is so fast for an RC car with this size and weight.

As always, the motor comes with a huge cooling fan and a heatsink to keep it running smoothly.

Also, the ESC comes with the latest tech from Arrma and Spektrum which is great.

The servo is also so powerful, that you don’t need to change it.

The other Arrma Outcast Versions

Wait, all that we have mentioned up to now is about the Arrma Outcast 8s version.

There are 3 other versions that you should know, they are cheaper, but weaker at the same time except for the EXB which comes with no electronics.

The first version of this RC car is the Arrma Outcast 4s which is the smallest and the cheapest as well as the basic one, let’s say.

The second one is the Arrma Outcast 6s which has a medium size and medium power as well. It’s a great alternative for you if the 8s version is a little expensive. The 6s is more affordable.

The third one is the Arrma Outcast 8s EXB which comes with no electronics. When you buy this RC car, it’s so affordable, it’s even cheaper than the 6s.

However, filling it with electronics, and I mean high-quality electronics that will show you the true power of this RC car is expensive, and you may add more than the price you bought it with.

Arrma Outcast 8s Transmitter and Receiver

As you know, this is a great RC car with great capabilities, so, it’s not convenient for such an RC car to have a bad transmitter and a receiver.

This is why the Arrma Outcast 8s comes with one of the best Arrma transmitters, it’s the Spektrum™ DX3™ Smart transmitter, and the SRS6110AT AVC® receiver supports the Active Vehicle Control as well as other features.

This transmitter is well known for its fast radio transmission, once you click, your RC car will respond in no time. It’s so fast.

The AVC or Active Vehicle Control is one of the best features that this transmitter has. This feature allows you to maintain a direct direction with your RC car which helps you with balance in case you lost control over the Arrma Outcast 8s.

The other feature that you will have fun with for sure is the Spektrum Dashboard App.

This app allows you to learn more info about your RC car including the top speed, the actual speed, and the motor temperature as well as a lot more info and details about your RC car.

In this case, you might want to replace them with some aluminum parts such as suspension arms, driveshafts, and steering blocks, there is even an aluminum wheelie bar, as well as aluminum shocks, and more.

Everything that we have said in this Arrma Outcast 8s review has been about the great things about this RC car.

There is nothing perfect though, there will be always room for improvement.

However, for me as a user and a driver, there is nothing I didn’t like about this RC car, everything is well built, reliable, and fun to drive.

The body is perfect, the chassis has everything that a powerful RC car needs to kill it on the ground.

Maybe in the next generation of the Arrma Outcast 8s, we will see a better improvement, especially on the level of the shocks to handle even better than now.

Great Things About Arrma Outcast 8s

This RC car is filled with great things to mention.

Here are some of them that drew my attention:

If you look under the wheelie bar on the rear bumper as well as on eh front bumper, you’ll find a small car plate with the name Outcast on it. It’s great detail out there, isn’t it?

On the body in the windows on the sides, that sticker is showing you some great details about the windows of racing cars which looks cool.

The variety that the Arrma Outcast gives to us the consumers is a great idea to allow us to enjoy the great abilities of this RC car at any price.

If you don’t like the price of the Arrma Outcast 8s, go for the 4s or the 6s. And if you want your own Arrma Outcast, go for the EXB. Arrma is thinking about you, right?
